b/w was commissioned by the Indiana University Moving Image Archive to celebrate the centenary of the 16mm film format. Shot on a single roll of film and edited in-camera, it employs close-focus cinematography of text from commercial house paint samples, suggesting a mythology of light and shadow. still/here was made as a thesis film at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. A meditation on the vast landscape of ruins that constitute the north side of St. Louis—an area populated almost exclusively by working class African Americans—the film was recently restored on 16mm by Mark Toscano at the Academy Film Archive.
