Jörg Kalt – Possible and Actual Films
November 20, 2008
As a filmmaker, Jörg Kalt (1967–2007) was one of the most unusual artists in Austrian cinema. Now he can be discovered posthumously as a literary writer as well. The new book Mögliche Filme (Possible Films) assembles Kalt's wonderful stories and essays, many of which are “dedicated to the known and unknown gods of cinema; without their art, life would only be a profession and would smell like Dior." (Peter Kern, Die Presse)
In the framework of this tribute to Jörg Kalt, actors Georg Friedrich and Ursula Strauss will read from his stories, followed by a screening of his best film, Richtung Zukunft durch die Nacht (Towards the Future Through the Night, 2002), with Kathrin Resetarits, Simon Schwarz and Barbara Albert. The three protagonists, who were all close friends of Kalt's, will be present for the occasion.
