Say Hello – Visiting the Film Museum: Apichatpong Weerasethakul
September 10 and 11, 2017
What breadth – from making experimental short films and videos to being crowned with the Golden Palm, from an acclaimed stage production (Fever Room, soon to be rediscovered at Berlin's Volksbühne) to participating at Documenta and numerous Biennials: the 47-year-old Thai artist Apichatpong Weerasethakul is an exceptional figure in many fields.
He is also one of those historical "shapeshifters" of cinema whose work has been closely followed by the Film Museum. This resulted in a retrospective, a book, and the restoration and DVD publication of his first feature film. Now he will honor us with his presence once again: on September 10, Apichatpong Weerasethakul will present his Cannes-winning film Uncle Boonmee (2010) and give a masterclass the following day.
