In memoriam Jonas Mekas

On January 23, 2019, Jonas Mekas, one of cinema's most remarkable artists, died aged 96. Widely regarded as the "godfather of American avant-garde cinema," the filmmaker was a most welcome guest at the Film Museum, with whose co-founder Peter Kubelka he shared a long-lasting friendship and artistic alliance. The Film Museum devotes an evening to Jonas Mekas with a screening of one of his most beautiful films. Peter Kubelka will speak in remembrance of Mekas before the film.
