Internationally renowned French film director Claire Denis (*1948) was the focus of the first book in the FilmmuseumSynemaPublikationen series, which appeared in tandem with a complete retrospective of her work at the Film Museum in May 2005. On May 7, she took part in a workshop conducted by Michael Omasta and Isabella Reicher, editors of the aforementioned book. Here the filmmaker, whose work spans both narrative and non-narrative genres, laments the loss of the "physical" aspect of film editing due to the transition from analog to digital.
