Dream Machine Cinema

Wednesday, 04. June, 10:00-12:00

Age 16 plus
In cinema's earliest years, how multi-faceted and comprehensive the parallels between film and dreams are was already apparent. Physically immobile, our eyes receive projected images, over which we have no control.  Their origin is not up there where we see the images, but behind us. Before we see them, they have been processed, altered, displaced, and condensated. It's clear: "Film technology is dream technology" (Paul Ramain, 1925). To complement our comprehensive retrospective "Dream Machine Cinema," in this event for school classes we explore the above-mentioned parallels and look at the great degree to which cinema is devoted to dreams.
