How to become a filmmaker? And what might make things difficult? During the early years young filmmakers often are at liberty to go down new paths and develop a unique style. Many exciting short films, music videos or experimental films that are screened in Austria and abroad are made in that phase. Kurdwin Ayub and Christoph Schwarz are two especially interesting cases who have developed a style between playful freedom and a certain set of rules. The "Cinema Next"-series introduces young filmmakers and their works and is accompanied by discussions about what it means to make a passion into a profession.
